This is my second post in Meme Week, where it is all memes, all the time. One of the fun types of memes is where you have to pick things out of a list. Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Golden)16.Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (Rowling) My token Harry Potter book. Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte) After reading The Eyre Affair, I’m tempted, but it sure is a thick book.21. Salinger) I read it cover to cover in one night during the summer after I graduated from high school. I reread it recently because it’s on my son’s school reading list, and it didn’t age well.23. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (Douglas Adams) Again, essential geek reading list material. A Tale of Two Cities (Dickens) Required reading in high school, but not the best Dickens.53. Watership Down (Richard Adams) All my geek friends read it and loved it. A generation later, it’s required reading in middle school and my son and all his friends hate it.87. The Celestine Prophecy (James Redfield)100.Ulysses (James Joyce) I have attempted this several times and decided no one that isn’t in a graduate level literature class can even comprehend it.I would like to know who wrote the list because the books selected seem to say more about whoever started this meme than the people that play it.Here my count of the different genres represented:32: Books that could be found on a high school or college literature course required reading list.31: Contemporary fiction novels, pretty heavy on the chick lit.15: Science fiction, fantasy or horror.13: Young adult reading level novels including the entire Harry Potter series.6: Sappy inspirational memoirs.3: Sprawling epic novels that have been made into mini-series starring either Richard Chamberlain or Peter Strauss.I have to guess that the person that made the list is a Canadian woman that reads a lot of Oprah Book Club selections, but I could be wrong.

I kept an eye on this one in the hope it would go over futher then 2miles, today it goes over 2mile 2 furlongs. The last day it ran it was held up well out the back and started making up ground to finish a moderate fifth but showing it needed just a bit extra distance, the time before that it ran over 2mile 4 and got tired inside the last 2 furlongs so todays distance should be just spot on for it to run a big race carrying 10-12 and young Kiely claiming 5lbs its well in and its not a very strong race todays a 72-102 rated h’cap the last day was a 74- 109 rated h’cap so if it runs to form it shouldn’t be out of the first4 …the price is a bit shorter then i thought but if it wins we’ll not worry about that.5 PTS E.W.

Northeast Conference (no really–that’s a conference–Fairleigh Dickinson, Monmouth, etc)Something called Central Connecticut State beat something called Sacred Heart, 74-70. They will be one of the bottom 8 seeds, and unless someone doesn’t guard Mojica, they’ll play their game, have fun and go home.Big Sky ConferenceI love the Big Sky Conference. So I’m a little sad to announce that they lost to Weber State 88-80 in the Finals of the Big Sky tournament.
